eBay private / personal accounts

Initial step required

If you have a private or personal eBay account, you may need to set up your eBay Business Policies. This must be done on the desktop / PC version of eBay before you continue setting up and publishing listings through Listing Engine.

  1. 1Log in to your eBay account on desktop.
  2. 2Go to Account Settings.
  3. 3Under Selling, click Business Policies.
  4. 4Create one policy for each of the following: Payment policy, Shipping policy, and Returns policy.

If you have just created your policies on eBay, they may not show straight away while eBay updates. They usually appear within a few hours, but in some cases can take up to 24 hours to process.

These policies are required by eBay for third-party listing tools and integrations.

Vinted connection

Connect Vinted through a free Chrome extension in about a minute.

We connect to Vinted through a free Chrome extension. It takes about a minute to set up.

The extension requires desktop Google Chrome. Vinted must remain open and logged in in its own browser tab whenever you want to publish to Vinted or use inventory synchronisation.

  1. 01

    Install the Listing Engine extension

Get it free from the Chrome Web Store, then make sure it's switched on. Get Listing Engine on the Chrome Web Store.

  2. 02

    Pin it to your toolbar

So you can always see it's active. Click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome, then the pin next to Listing Engine.

  3. 03

    Log in to Vinted

Open vinted.co.uk in a new tab and log in as usual. Keep that tab open while you publish and for inventory sync.

You're connected

The connection works while:

  • the Listing Engine extension is enabled;
  • Vinted is open in its own Chrome tab; and
  • you are logged in to Vinted.

Logging out of Vinted or disabling the extension will pause the connection. To reconnect, enable the extension and log back into Vinted.

No password shared with Listing Engine.

Guide 01

Creating a listing

Start from Create Listing, then add your SKU, quantity, selling platform/s, photos, listing type and price. Set your offers and eBay policies where applicable, add any extra measurements or keywords you want the AI to use, then press Save and Create.

If you use the same policies each time, press the save icons so your settings persist after the next page refresh.

Guide 01A

Bulk create listings

Bulk Create lets you create multiple listings at once by grouping your photos into individual items.

If you are publishing to eBay, first go to Settings -> Preferences and make sure your default eBay settings are configured, including your listing type, payment policy, returns policy and shipping policy.

Payment policy
Returns policy
Shipping policy

Then go to Bulk Create Listing.

  1. 01

Upload your photos or add a folder of photos.

  2. 02

Organise your photos by date or name if needed.

  3. 03

Select Row Selection Mode, then choose the first and last photo for your first item.

  4. 04

Enter the SKU, select the platform you want to list on, then add the price and quantity.

  5. 05

Press Save. Your selected settings will remain saved for the rest of the batch.

  6. 06

Leave SKU Seq switched on if you want Listing Engine to automatically increase the SKU for each new item.

  7. 07

Press Allocate to create the item, then select the photos for your next item. Adjust the price or other details if required and press Allocate again.

  8. 08

Continue until all of your photos have been allocated into items.

  9. 09

When you're ready, press Create Drafts.

Listing Engine's AI will then create all of your listings in bulk. Once complete, you'll find them on the Listings page ready to review and publish.

Guide 02

Reviewing a listing

Navigate to the Listings page and select a listing to review, or select multiple listings to review in sequence. Check the photos, title, description, category, condition, item specifics and any required marketplace fields before publishing. For eBay listings, complete as many relevant optional item specifics as possible to help improve visibility in eBay search.

Guide 03

Publishing listings

Once your listings have been reviewed and are ready to go live, select the listing or listings you want to publish. You can publish to eBay, Vinted, or both marketplaces depending on where you want the item to be listed.

Listings can be published individually or selected and published in bulk.

Guide 04

Inventory syncing and delisting

When the same item is listed on both eBay and Vinted, Listing Engine helps keep your inventory in sync.

If the item sells on one marketplace, Listing Engine will automatically delist the corresponding listing from the other marketplace, helping prevent the same item being sold twice.

For Vinted synchronisation to run, the Listing Engine Chrome extension must be enabled, Vinted must be open in its own Chrome tab, and you must remain logged in to Vinted.

If the extension is disabled, the Vinted tab is closed, or you are logged out of Vinted, synchronisation will pause until the connection is restored.

Guide 05

Withdrawing and deleting listings

Use Withdraw when you want to remove a live listing from a marketplace but keep the listing saved in Listing Engine. Use Delete when you want to permanently remove the listing from Listing Engine — this does not remove it from eBay or Vinted, so the marketplace listing will remain live. If you want to remove the listing from both, withdraw it first, then delete it.

Troubleshooting

Fix the two setup issues that usually block publishing.

Business policies

Required on private eBay

Business Policies are mandatory for third-party integrations, especially on private or personal eBay accounts. In eBay, go to Account Settings -> Business Policies on desktop and create Shipping, Payment, and Returns policies.

Reconnect eBay

Fresh handshake

  1. 01Disconnect in Settings -> Integrations.
  2. 02Log out of every eBay account in the browser.
  3. 03Clear browser cache, cookies, and site data.
  4. 04Connect again and fill the default inventory location.
iPhone HEIC photos

Prefer JPEG for speed

HEIC iPhone photos are supported, but may take longer to process. For the fastest upload experience, set your iPhone camera settings to Most Compatible so new photos save as JPEG.

Settings -> Camera -> Formats -> Most Compatible
